The first Sunday in June is a special day for Bowen Island Fish & Wildlife Club (BIFWC) salmon enhancement volunteers who have worked hard over the last 6 months incubating, feeding, and releasing salmon fry raised in the Terminal Creek Salmon Hatchery. Before the Hatchery is closed for the summer, the BIFWC volunteers need the help of Bowen Island children to release the last of the Coho fry into nearby Terminal Creek.
Parents, grandparents, and great grandparents can assist, observe, and ask questions about wild salmon and the importance of protecting salmon habitat. Metro Vancouver Parks, an important partner of the BIFWC, will have a nature themed display that will engage children of all ages.
