News about the Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere Initiative

Following up on her April 2017 Speaker Series presentation about the Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere Initiative, Ruth Simons has written to tell us that she plans to arrange a meeting of the Conservancies from around Howe Sound for the purpose of providing an update on the progress of the Initiative, and to obtain feedback on the functions of the Biosphere Organization.

Such a meeting will enable the various Conservancies to consider how the Biosphere Region organization could add value and capacity to furthering the efforts of conservation in the Sound. As well, it’ll be beneficial to meet other organizations from around Howe Sound.

If you would like more background on the existing Biosphere Reserves in Canada, there are videos available on the Striking Balance website. A good one to watch first is about the Mont Saint-Hilaire Biosphere Reserve.
