Nature’s Wonders: 2025 Biodiversity Photo Contest

When Bowen Islanders turn their cameras toward the natural wonders of our island, they capture moments that reveal just how alive and diverse our home truly is. The Bowen Island Conservancy’s annual Caring for Nature Biodiversity Photo Contest drew more than 120 entries across three categories: adults, teens, and children.

The photographs revealed both remarkable skill and a deep appreciation for Bowen’s ecosystems. Each image reminds us that every creature and plant plays a role in the island’s web of life. The richer the diversity, the stronger and more resilient our ecosystems become remain.

Biodiversity is not only beautiful, it sustains the natural systems that support clean air, fresh water, and healthy forests. Protecting it means protecting the very qualities that make Bowen Island special.

The Conservancy is proud to support this community celebration of biodiversity. We hope the contest continues to spark curiosity and stewardship—reminding us that even small acts, like pausing to observe, deepen our commitment to protecting Bowen’s natural riches.

Growing pains

We received several fine photos that we were unable to find corresponding entry forms for, due to a submission process that was a little too complicated. We couldn’t judge them in the competition because we couldn’t identify the photographer or category they belonged in, though we did all we could to sort out incomplete data. We apologize to any photographers who weren’t included and will ensure a better system next year.
